Wheeew, things sure are hotting up - hope we see some fireflies tonight.
The kid in me still thinks about finding a canning jar and punch holes in the top to "collect" fireflies. The first time I did, despite parental discouragement, I took the jar to my room so I could watch them blink while I fell asleep.
In the morning they were gone, the lucky ones out through holes in the top. I felt terrible and wished they could be sent back to the night.
You may capture but you can't keep what you love, you have to enjoy it's flight, perhaps even protect it's freedom.
It didn't really stop the kids from catching "lightning bugs" - but when it was time to go in, I'd insist that we'd release them back to the trees.
The world is filled with wonder, even for adults. And I still dig seeing fireflies blink like nearby stars as I fall asleep.
Speaking of lights in the night, hope to see you at Nick Fink's for the "soulful, grooving folk" of KARISA WILSON and that you'll sing "campfire songs for urban folk" along with DAVE BOUTETTE... (And, if you're unable to attend in person, please join us for an internet broadcast on usteram.tv)
Last year we updated awinterstune.com, this year it's Octoberday.com turn.
We plan to unveil "4 Songs 4 Summer" during the 4 weeks following July 4th - one new recording of Summery song by J. Oscar for 4 weeks as part of the site's BETA re-launch. These will be made for the summer of 2010, so check out the site right after you get back from Nick Fink's on July 9... (OR after you watch the broadcast)
And I should also mention that future notices for "Saloon Concerts at Nick Fink's" will be found at Octoberday.com after this upcoming show - no worries, we'll set a link out should you forget....
For now, cheers!
- J. Oscar
